Sport Liverpool

Sport Liverpool is the Sports Directorate for the University of Liverpool. It oversees indoor and outdoor facilities and all classes and programmes within those facilities. In addition our staff support the activities of the 48 student sports clubs and the internal sports league which operate under the Campus Liverpool brand.

Our 48 clubs and Campus Football programme have over 3650 members, are led by elected student officers and are supported by our Sports Development Team. The list of clubs at present is:

Our campus based Sports Centre has over 7000 members, mostly student and staff but is also open to public members. It has two sports halls, four squash courts, a large studio and swimming pool. The Centre has received £5million worth of investment since 2011.

Our major outdoor facility is commonly known as Wyncote and is in the Allerton area. It has 9 grass soccer, three rugby union, one rugbby league, one lacrosse and two sand dressed floodlit full size astros. In addition we have a floodlit 3G training pitch. Its correct name is Geoffrey Hughes Memorial Ground and was donated to the University in 1922 by the Hughes family in memory of their son Geoffrey who was killed in action in August 1918 whilst serving with the Grenadier Guards.
