Liverpool Lions RLFC

Liverpool Lions RLFC is in the unique position of being the first and only junior and youth rugby league club in the city. Formed in 2008 the club has in excess of 100 players aged from 8 to 18.

The game is played competitively from 13 upwards in structured leagues all over the North West of England. Up to age 12 the emphasis is on having fun and learning new skills and boys and girls can play side by side. Last year saw the Lions start a men’s team who played in the NW Men’s league. This team takes players from 18+ and plays in summer. Details from

The club also is in partnership with Liverpool Lions WRFC who provide wheelchair rugby to all abilities. Both able bodied and non able bodied can play side by side. Based in Greenbank Sports Academy this team will play competitive games over summer.

The club has qualified UKCC level 2 and level 1 coaches who have enhanced disclosure and barring service clearance. All coaches abide by the RFL code of conduct and have attended safeguarding and protecting children courses.

The club is Sport England Club Marked and abides by RFL policies on safeguarding, health & safety, etc

The club is run by volunteers and new people are always welcome to become members, supporters, committee members etc. Just contact the secretary for roles available. We welcome sports undergraduates from universities to give them experience. All assistant coaches are supervised.

The club has provided pathways to the professional game with players being signed by Widnes Vikings and Wigan Warriors into their academy systems.
